Safety
A key focus of innovation management at ThyssenKrupp Umformtechnik is the development of components and modules for passive safety systems. At numerous centers around the world, ThyssenKrupp Technologie systematically utilizes its experience in materials and process technology from volume production to develop and test body, chassis and uspension parts designed to satisfy the highest vehicle safety requirements.
For example, the "vehicle door" module featuring Thyssen Engineered Blanks with non-linear weldedreinforcements reduces both weight and parts count while significantly improving energy absorption capacity in the event of a crash. Further improvements are achieved by using parts formed from high-strength steels for the vehicle structure. In chassis technology, application-specific components are developed
using the latest findings from the area of materials development. FEM
analysis and durability simulations shorten the development cycle and
thus help cut costs. The strength and safety of initial prototypes are
already so advanced that the remaining development period can be used
for fine tuning. |
